You can now add a video thumbnail to a template in Mailmodo. Since most email clients do not support embedded videos, it is better to insert a link to your video in emails.

You can generate a play button thumbnail for videos hosted on Youtube and Vimeo using the following tools-

Paste the video link in the Video URL field.

Select the button overlay style you want in your video thumbnail. Click on Load thumbnail. That's it, your thumbnail is generated. You can download the image to use it in your email template.

How to add a video thumbnail to a template in Mailmodo?

The dynamic image URL feature allows the same content block to display different images to different users.

All you need is a column as a property under which different image URLs would be stored for each of your contacts. You just need to add a personalisation parameter and map it to a user property. This would enable you to show personalised images in the same block to respective contacts.

How to use dynamic image URL in your campaign?

 by writing it within the characters ${ }. 

Here you can enter the corresponding column header in the contacts list from where the image URL is to be extracted. If the column-header in your contacts list is img_url, write it as ${img_url}

Or, you could leave the default ${image} and map it at a later stage while sending the campaign (explained later).


You can choose one of the fixed values or customize the ratio by specifying dimensions under

Provide alternate image text, this text will appear if the image fails to load.


A default placeholder image will appear in the template. After editing your template, click on Send bulk campaign from the dropdown.


Enter Subject line, Pre-Header text, From name and Reply to email. Click on Next.

Select the list/segment (from contacts) whom you want to send the campaign. Click on next.

A pop up will open. Map the personalisation parameter used in the template to the respective header in contact list.

For eg. The default personalisation parameter is ${image}. Now, we will map this to the column in your contact list which contains the image URLs. 

To test, click on Send Test Campaign->Enter Email ID-> Send Test Email.

After successful testing, click on Schedule or Send. You have the option to send your campaign now, schedule it for later or

How to use dynamic image feature in your campaign?

Mailmodo lets you hyperlink a phone number right inside the email. If a smartphone user taps on the number, it will automatically open with the dialer.

We also support WhatsApp integration, where a chat will be initiated when the user taps on the number.

How to hyperlink a phone number in your Email

Select the phone number and click on the link button.

Type “tel:number”. For example, if the number to be hyperlinked is 91234xxxxx, you must type tel:91234xxxxx in the link URL. Click on Save.

Your phone number is now hyperlinked. When a smartphone user taps on the number, it will open with the dialer.

How to hyperlink WhatsApp Contact in your Email

Want your customer queries to reach your WhatsApp? You can do this by hyperlinking your WhatsApp contact in your email.

How to add phone number as Call to Action(CTA) in template?

 In your template, add a text block or button

In the input text bar add the email ID you would like your email recipients to email to with the prefix mailto:

Once you have added your email link, continue with any other changes in the template as you wish and send out a test email or campaign.

 Clicking on the text will open the compose email box.

How to add email as Call to Action(CTA) in template?

You can show or hide a block in a template based on the device on which the email is being opened i.e. desktop or mobile.

For example, I have a button in my template that redirects to my Play Store app. This button is only relevant for mobile users. With the hide feature, I can hide this button for email recipients viewing the email on a desktop as it will only be visible on mobile devices.

2. If the width of the device on which the email is being viewed is less than 480px, then the mobile version will be shown. If the width is more than 480px, then the desktop version will be shown.

Show / hide functionality may not work on certain version of Yahoo and Outlook email clients. So, please remember to test the email on actual devices before sending the campaign. 

How to hide a block based on the user’s device type?

Select the block or form you want to hide. Scroll down on the right panel (old editor) or left (new editor) to find the hide feature. 

By default, the block is shown on all devices. Select the device on which you want to hide the block/form.  

In case of forms, you need to configure the AMP and HTML version separately.

 Once configured, check the template preview. You can toggle between the desktop and mobile versions from the drop to see how the template will look on different devices.

Send a test email to see how the template will look in the user’s inbox. Be sure to check the email on both desktop and mobile devices.

How to show or hide block on a mobile device?

Use tables in your emails to show important information clearly.

Here is the step-by-step process to add tables to your emails.

Open a new/saved template. Click on Blocks (left sidebar) -> Search 'table'. 

Drag and drop the table where you want to place it.

You can edit the text by clicking on the respective cell. 

 You can add/delete rows and columns, merge cells, style borders using the table options. You just need to click on the table and the options would appear.

Alternatively, you can also create a completely new table 

 Place your cursor where you want to insert the table in text.

You can now easily split the block background into two different ratios and add custom colours to both sections or images to one of the sections to enhance your email design.  

Under the "Background" section, you’ll find options to split your background.

Select one of the following ratios that will split the background either horizontally or vertically :

Once you select a split ratio and fill type, you can choose the colours or upload the images for each section.

You can achieve this using custom blocks or blank columns by following the same steps

You’ll see a live preview of your changes as you modify the background split and colours.

Adjust the colours or ratio until you're satisfied with the design.

How to customize and split a block's background

You can now enhance the design of your email by adding a card or box around your blocks. This feature adds structure and allows you to apply additional styling options to make your content stand out. Follow these steps to add a card/box to your email blocks.

Select the block from the "Design" tab where you'd like to add the card/box.

In the left panel, look for the option labelled 

A visible box will now be added around the block.

After enabling the card, you can customize its appearance with the following options:

: Choose a border style (solid, dashed, dotted, etc.) and adjust its thickness and color to match your design.

: Set the radius to control how rounded the edges of the card/box are.

: You can set a background color for the card/box to make it stand out.

: Adjust the padding to create space between the content inside the card/box and the edges of the box itself.

As you customize the card/box, the editor will update your email design in real-time.

Review the changes and make any necessary adjustments to achieve your desired look.

Step 1: Choose an image element and click on the "Border" option in the side panel

Step 2: Enable Selective border width and adjust the values

You can achieve this image design by following the steps mentioned below:

Click on the "Block" tab and enable selective border width under the "Border" option in the side panel. You can now customize the thickness of borders on each side of the block.

Please note: Border width and border radius cannot be applied 

simultaneously. Only one can be active at a time.

You can follow the same instructions to apply it to cards and columns.
