Some email clients have images disabled by default, but you can ensure all recipients of your email campaign have access to your full email by including a "View in Browser" link. By clicking the link, they will be directed to a browser-based version of your email campaign. 

With Mailmodo, you have the flexibility to choose the placement and wording of the link. In this guide, we'll demonstrate how to add the link to your content and personalize the text accordingly.

Please note: View in browser feature is not available for uploaded templates on the platform.  

Step-by-step guide to add View in browser link in your email template

You can create a link that directs the user to the browser-based version of the email with the macro 

. Make the link or button text whatever you want, like "View this email in your browser".

To add a View in Browser link to your template, follow these steps

 Open the email template in the editor. Add the text string or button to which you would like to hyperlink the View in Browser link. 

In the case of a text string, select the text and add a hyperlink. Paste 

 is added, save the template and continue with your campaign creation as you do normally. 

 When a user clicks on the "View in Browser" hyperlinked button/text they will be redirected to the browser version of the sent email. 

Please note - this feature is not supported for Rich Text Email templates.

How to add "View in browser" link in your email template?

You can now add countdown timers to a template in Mailmodo. The timer will countdown to a preset time. The timer will be updated every time the recipient opens the email.

Countdown timers can be used to emphasise deadlines and create buzz around upcoming events. For eg. you can set a count down timer for end of season sale or time remaining for an upcoming webinar.

 You can generate a countdown timer GIF using one of the following tools. Set the time till which the timer will countdown. 

You can configure and customise the timer as per your requirements.

Let's set the countdown timer till 31st December, 2024.

If the tool you are using generates an HTML code, copy the image source link.

Inserting the timer in a Mailmodo template

Select image from URL. Paste the image link copied earlier. Click on Set up.

How to add a countdown timer to a template in Mailmodo?

In this article we will see how to add a hidden field or variable in the template. But let us first understand the need of having a hidden field in the form. It lets the sender include data that cannot be seen or modified by users when a form is submitted.

A hidden field allows you to include additional information with a form or API response without displaying it to the user. It's useful for tracking purposes, security measures, or when you need to include supplemental data that isn't visible or editable by the user.

This can be achieved in two different methods.

  Create a personalized parameter in the template and hide it by changing the text color to the background color.

This method can be used to hide the parameter in all cases.

 Use the display logic to hide a field and assign a pre-filled value which will be returned along with the response.

In some cases, we can't hide the field using this method because the user can still see and modify the pre-filled value when the condition is executed.

Now, let's look into both methods in detail.

 Add a block to your template and add a personalization parameter in the block.

 Change the variable/parameter color to the background so it is hidden and not visible to the user. 

 When a trigger campaign is sent using a webhook, the hidden variables will be present under the data object. On specifying the value of the variable, it will be returned along with the response. Click

 Assign a value to the hidden variable and trigger the campaign.

 This the preview of the mail in the user's inbox with the hidden parameter.

 Once the campaign is triggered, the value of the hidden variable will be returned along with the response on submission by the user.

 Select a pre-existing template or create a new template. Click

 In this case we will be working with a form template.

 After choosing a form template select the required element that you want to hide in the form/template and select the show/hide logic option.

 Under the display logic tab, select the visibility and give the desired condition of hiding the field and click on save changes.

 After the display logic, map the field to contact property. Select a contact property to fetch existing contact data. Create a custom key to fetch new data (in case of transactional campaign) and then click on save button. Click

 Choose webhook to export the submissions to external apps. Click on setup integration.

 Add all the relevant details of the webhook like the title, URL, Key-Value pair and the field names for the questions. Please click

 After entering the field names for the questions click on the save button.

 After sending the test/campaign mail when the user submits the form, it is received in the following format of JSON in the webhook. Click

 When the display logic condition is not executed the field will not be visible to the user as it is hidden but the response will be included in the form submission. 

 When the display logic condition is executed the user can see the hidden field with the pre-filled value and can also modify the data in the field, the new response will be included in the form submission.

 When sending a bulk campaign make sure that the contact properties you selected earlier are mapped correctly. If you created a custom key, you would need to map it to a contact property here. Click

Dynamic images in emails are images that change depending on the recipient or the time of day. They can be used to personalise emails, make them more relevant, and increase engagement.

There are two main types of dynamic images in emails:

 These images are tailored to the individual recipient, based on their data, such as their name, location, or purchase history. 

 These images change depending on the time of day or the date.

When to use time sensitive dynamic images?

1. Create an email template with countdown to an important timer like New Year, Christmas or end of season sale.

Pro tip: Use countdown timers when you want to create a sense of urgency towards an upcoming event.

2. Use it in conjunction with other dynamic content that updates every time an email is opened. 

Use time sensitive dynamic image when you expect your email to be opened multiple times.

3. Use time sensitive image to highlight relevant events. For example, I have a festive sale coming soon. If someone opens the email before the sale starts, they will see an image informing them about an upcoming sale. If someone opens the email during the sale, they will see an image informing them that the sale is live. If someone opens the email after the sale has ended, they will see another image with a generic message.

How to add dynamic images to templates created on Mailmodo?

Dynamic images can be created using a variety of different tools and technologies. We will be using a free third-party tool called 

 to create dynamic time sensitive images.

 and insert the first image which you want to show chronologically.

2. Add other images and configure the starting date time of each image.

3.  Preview the image and do sanity testing to ensure everything is configured properly. Once done, click on Get my link.

4. Enter your email address to receive the link.

5. Wait for a few minutes and check our inbox. You would have received a link to the image. If you have not received an email, check the spam and promotional folders. Note that the email may take upto 10 minutes to arrive.

Th email would contain a link to the dynamic image as well as a link to further edit your images (if required). Save the edit link for future and copy the image link.

6. Add an image to your email template on Mailmodo. Navigate to static URL and paste the link you copied under Image URL. Be sure to add appropriate alternate image text as well!

7. Create the rest of template and send a campaign. That's it! You are all set to go. The image will update chronologically based on the logic you have configured in 

How to add time sensitive dynamic images to an email?

A repeatable block contains placeholders for different personalised elements. It will repeat multiple times, each time displaying different information using the same content block. To use a repeatable block in your template, follow these steps:

 Create a block and personalise the elements with relevant tags. 

To personalize a text, write them like ${personalization_text} or use the drop-down 

 displayed and configure it in your backend. 

Once the configuration is complete, you can preview and test your template.

Personalisation in an email is both a process and an outcome. It is the process by which you add an individual user’s details in the email. The outcome is that it feels more personal and relevant upon delivery. 

There are two broad steps required for personalization:

Adding this tag indicates to Mailmodo that there is personalized information to be entered here. It is always written within the characters 

. Here are a few instances where you can add personalization parameter. 

Note that apostrophe and double quotes cannot be used in personalisation parameters. If you use apostrophe or double quotes in personalisation, then mapping will not work.

This is simple text personalization that you can add to different parts of your email body. For example, to show a contact's

. Click on the custom option and edit the text with the right parameter. 

Once added, while mapping the parameter, you need to make sure that the selected contact list while creating the campaign should have the relevant data for that attribute.

Use a dynamic URL to display personalised images to each user. 

. Add the personalization parameter in the respective field.

 Select the button you wish to personalize. 

 Use a personalization tag in the URL field in the right-side panel. 

While sending an email with personalization, you are required to map the personalization after adding your contacts. 

This is the step where you match each of the personalization to its corresponding column in the database. This column has to be the source of the data using which each personalization parameter will be replaced with the individual personal details.  

 After selecting your contacts, click on Next. A dialogue box will open. Map the personalization parameters used in the template or subject line.

This dialogue box will only open if you have used any personalization parameter in your template or subject line. 

For each personalization parameter added, map the correct column header from the contact list under which the corresponding data is stored.  

For example, for ${image}, your database requires a column that has all the image URLs present. The text within the tag and the column header need not be an exact match. 

This completes the personalization in your template. You can now proceed with the next steps and set your campaign live. 

How to use personalization parameter in your template?

An unsubscribe link in the email allows recipients to opt out of marketing emails. This ensures that your contacts only receive emails they are interested in.

Every email sent through Mailmodo must have an unsubscribe link as mandated by law. By default, all Mailmodo templates have an unsubscribe link in the email footer. You can change the location of the unsubscription link by a hyperlinking it to a button or text string.

What happens when a user clicks on unsubscribe?

When an email recipient clicks on the unsubscribe link, they will be redirected to a preference centre where they can select a reason for unsubscribing. The contact can unsubscribe from all email communication or from certain 

Upon unsubscription the contact will be added to the suppression list. They will not be sent an any more emails (as per their preferences). You can view the unsubscription reason in the suppression list.

How to customise the unsubscribe link in an email template?

Open the email template in the editor. Add the text string or button to which you would like to hyperlink the unsubscription link.

 In case of text string, select the text and add a hyperlink.

 Paste this in the link URL "[[custom:unsubscribe]] ".

In case of button, paste "[[custom:unsubscribe]] " in button URL.

Once "[[custom:unsubscribe]]" is added, the default unsubscription link will be removed from the footer. When a user clicks hyperlinked button/text they will be redirected to preference center.
