You can make custom email templates as per your campaign requirements. You also have the option to save these templates for future use. To ensure you get the best fit for your email campaign, Mailmodo provides you with a host of template options. 

Here is the step by step process to create an email template in Mailmodo.

After selecting the template, you will be redirected to the drag-and-drop template editor. You can customize the pre-made templates or design a new one by adding the desired elements.

After editing, you can check the preview by clicking the 

 button to see how the email will look in your recipient’s inbox.

Creating an Email Template

Ease and efficiency are what Mailmodo’s codeless, drag-and-drop editor grants you while you work on perfecting your email campaign. It allows you to choose from a list of pre-designed and customizable HTML and AMP elements. This article will take you through the entire range of features and how to customize each of them. 

You can start your template with a text block, image, form, button, widgets or pre-made blocks.

You can edit these elements on the right-side panel.

You can click on the "Try new editor" button to try out our new editor.

In the new editor, the panel is present on the left-hand side. Click on

Click on the Layout from the add block option & then select any desired layout from the pop-up window.



 You can customize each section of the layout by clicking on the respective element. Customization options are also available on the right panel.

 You have the option to select the default font family for the template. To do so click on the empty space outside the email body (as shown in the screenshot). Email body settings will appear on the right panel. You can change the font family as per your requirements. 


Type the desired text in the respective field. On the pop-up highlight bar of the editor, you can find options to change font size, color, letter spacing, etc.

Alternatively, you can also select the text to get more formatting option.

A dialogue box will open. You can upload a new image, use a previously uploaded image or fetch an image from a URL.

You also have the option to add Alternate Image Text. This text will appear if the image fails to load.

If you want to fetch an image from the internet, go to Image from URL->Static URL->Paste image URL->Add alternate image text->Set up

After adding an image you can do the following from the right side panel: Change the image size, replace uploaded image, link the image to a URL, edit alternate text, add border, edit layout, align image, mobile display optimisation.

Use the right side panel to configure the button. Add the URL that you wish to link with the button. You can also edit other features like text style, button colour, border, size and layout. 



You can insert forms in emails to drive user engagement and conversions.

Once you have added a form, select a question block and click on the plus button to add a question. You can also add a step by clicking on the plus button at the top. 

To edit the existing questions, click on the respective elements and type desired text.

You can add different widgets to your email like

Under Interactive widgets -> See all. A dialogue box will open.



Go to Interactive widgets. Insert desired widget.

Mailmodo offers a range of pre-made blocks for different use cases.

Click on See all under Pre-made blocks. A dialogue box will open. You can choose a content block from different categories like Headers, Newsletters, Products, Footers and Forms.

 Click on See all under Interactive widgets. A dialogue box will open. Go to Your saved blocks. You can choose a desired content block from the saved blocks.

The mobile view allows you to customize mobile-optimized messages using the editor. This mode simplifies adjusting your content for various devices:

 – Choose to hide specific content blocks when your message is viewed on a particular device.

 – This setting will help you display the content in the block either stacked side by side, vertically, or in reverse in the mobile

To preview your template on mobile, simply click the mobile icon at the top left of the editor and adjust individual elements to enhance their mobile appearance.

Rich text emails can be used when you want to add more visual and formatting elements to your email, beyond plain text. Here are some situations when using rich text emails may be appropriate:

Difference between rich text editor and interactive editor

The appearance of an email created using Rich Text Editor (RTE) in the recipient's inbox is shown as follows:

 Go to the templates tab and click on create new template> create text only template

 Compose your email. You can use various formatting options such as bold, italic, and underlined text, as well as different font styles, sizes, colors, images, hyperlinks, tables, and lists to help organize the information and make your emails more attractive and easier to read.

 Once done, be sure to check template suggestions. Check the preview and send a test email to see how the template will look in the inbox. Once satisfied, you can use the template in campaigns.

Rich text emails can be used in all the places like journeys, triggered emails, etc.

How to create text only emails in Mailmodo?

The autosave feature in our no-code email editor is designed to automatically save your work at regular intervals, ensuring that you never lose your progress while creating an email template.

The autosave feature operates silently in the background, periodically saving your changes as you work on your email design. You don't need to manually trigger the autosave process it happens automatically.

 An autosave will be done after every action. This means that your progress is saved at regular intervals, minimizing the risk of losing data in case of an unexpected event or disruption. You can always access and recover your work even if you close the browser or experience any technical issues.

1. When you begin creating a new email template or editing an existing one, the autosave feature is automatically activated. There is no need to enable it manually.

 While working on your email, you will notice a subtle visual indicator in the top bar indicating that your changes have been autosaved successfully. Hovering over Changes Autosaved will inform you when the last autosave was done. This serves as reassurance that your progress is being regularly saved.

In the event of an unintended browser closure, system crash, or any other unexpected disruption, you can recover your autosaved work easily. Simply find your template in the gallery and reopen it in the editor to recover your template.

If your device is looses internet connection, an alert will be shown in the top bar. In such events, do not close the tab. Your changes will be autosaved once you are back online.

What will happen if I edit the template simultaneously in multiple sessions?

Be cautious if you are working on the same email template from different devices or browser tabs simultaneously. In case of conflict, you will see a blocking modal. You can either Save your version of the template as a copy or reload the page to fetch the latest saved version of the template.

If any changes are made to the template after sending or scheduling a promotional campaign, the changes will have no bearing on the campaign. The version of the template at the time of campaign creation will be sent out to your recipients.

However, if you want to update the template being used in the campaign, you can do so by clicking save and update for campaigns in the top bar.

Alternatively, you can also refresh the template from the campaign dashboard by clicking on the three dots menu on the top right corner of your screen.

Will template suggestions work with autosave?

We will regularly check your template for errors. Keep an eye out on the bulb icon counter to identify errors, warnings and suggestions. 

Use undo (cmd/ctr+Z) and redo (cmd/Ctr+Y) to traverse between actions and revert to an earlier version of the template in the same editor session.

Autosave Feature in No-Code Email Editor

This feature allows you to upload email templates in Mailmodo. You can upload templates in multiple formats (such as AMP and HTML), view your template, and assign names and email types to the templates.

 Open the templates section and select the dropdown beside Create new template -> Upload Template

 Choose the HTML option if you just want to upload HTML templates. You can also drag and drop to upload the templates. 

You need to choose both AMP and HTML options if you want to send AMP emails.

 Add the template name once the upload is successful. You can assign an email type (default being Promotional) to the template.

Once uploaded, you can see the template in the 

Remove the unsubscribe option from the uploaded template as Mailmodo adds a default unsubscribe option for you. 

Ensure that you set up the personalization parameters with the correct format supported by Mailmodo.

Please note that you will not be able to edit the uploaded templates using the Mailmodo editor.
