Dos and Don’ts for Writing Good AI Prompts
Last updated April 19, 2024
At Mailmodo, we have introduced the option of AI to Rephrase Text and Generate Copy while editing the template and to write Subject Lines when creating the campaign. This reduces the burden on you, to come up with creative written content and well as saves time.
But AI needs human help to create anything, we need to provide instructions in the form on 'Custom Prompt'.
Writing Custom prompts is very easy and anyone can write them, as they are written in simple English. But, it good to know certain Do's and Don't for writing effective AI prompts.
Do's
1. Be Clear and Specific: Clearly outline what you want the AI to generate. Provide all necessary details, such as the target audience, tone, purpose of the email, and any specific points or information that need to be included.
2. Use Concise Language: Keep your prompts brief and to the point. Avoid unnecessary words or overly complex sentences that could confuse the AI.
3. Provide Context: Give the AI enough context to understand the purpose and audience of the email. This helps ensure that the generated copy is relevant and appropriate.
4. Include Keywords: Use keywords relevant to your email's subject matter to guide the AI in generating accurate and on-topic content.
5. Give Examples: If possible, provide examples of the style or tone you're aiming for. This helps the AI better understand your expectations and produce more relevant results.
Don'ts
1. Avoid Ambiguity: Ensure your prompts are clear and unambiguous. Vague or poorly-defined prompts can lead to irrelevant or off-topic responses from the AI.
2. Don't Overload with Information: While context is important, avoid overwhelming the AI with unnecessary details. Stick to the essential information needed to generate the email copy effectively.
3. Avoid Biased Language: Be mindful of bias in your prompts, especially when it comes to sensitive topics or diverse audiences. Use inclusive language and avoid making assumptions about the recipients of the email.
4. Don't Micromanage: While it's important to provide guidance, avoid micromanaging the AI by dictating every word or phrase. Trust the AI's ability to generate creative and relevant content based on your prompts.
5. Steer Clear of Complex Instructions: Keep your prompts simple and straightforward. Avoid overly complex instructions or requests that could confuse the AI and result in subpar output.
By following these do's and don'ts, you can effectively guide the AI in generating high-quality email copy that meets your objectives and resonates with your audience.
